The entrance to every Jehovah's Witness Kingdom Hall I've ever seen has a covered area in front of the door. I'm guessing there must be a reason for this, but I have never been able to find out what.

The Kingdom Hall I attended as a child, in my hometown did NOT have one. The different ones I have since atttended all have.

I believe that because we build our own buildings, we have a basic floor plan with only moderate changes made for the individual builds. Hence, all Kingdom Halls look very similar to each other i.e. covered entrances, no windows, etc.

These entrance structures are far from universal, and far from unique to Jehovah's Witnesses. Covered entrances are well-appreciated wherever they exist.

Many families attend meetings Jehovah's Witnesses. These covered entrances allow a courteous driver to spare his passengers the worst of any inclement weather.

I know the KH I go to has one, and boy I like it... The other night it was raining!!! So I was dropped off at the front door and I didn't have to get wet, poor hubby did. Just a nice thing to have in place, but not something that HAS to be there.

sometimes it is raining real hard, so can pick up our family without them getting wet. my kingdom hall does have windows. people think we are hiding something inside. but we are not. the doors are always open and anyone can come and learn about Jehovah God and Jesus Christ.

Neither Kingdom Hall here has one, but I see a lot of Churches that do, as I drive my taxi cab.

Maybe you should go to a Kingdom Hall and find out for yourself.

But my personal experience is, it protects the guests from the outside elements.

The same reason as Wal*Mart. It is so we can enter from a car, when being dropped off, without getting wet. Many buildings use something along this line.
