I find this to be especially true here in the state of Pa. 2) How silly are they that they believe in the "rapture" a word that doesn't even appear in the bible and the majority of Christian denominations that have been around longer then them don't even acknowledge.

Small towns do not have the viriety of coulture that big cities do.

In and of itself the word rapture is not unscriptural since it simply means ato be caught up in the air. But the doctrines that follow it are very unscriptural.

Jesus came from a small town in the middle of nowhere in the Roman Empire. He was talking about the Son a Man coming to die when everyone was looking for a King to deliver them from the Romans. Didn't change the truth. The word "Trinity" is not in the Bible, but the Trinity is in the Bible. It is the same with "Rapture"

"Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord." 1 Timothy 4:17

A lot of Christian denominations seem to be losing the concept that the Bible is the inerrant word of God, which is why the world is wreaking havoc on them. Perhaps the vast majority of Christians in this country are not really born again Christians at all and lacking the Holy Spirit do not have the ability to discern good from evil.

It appears your prejudice and ignorance is showing. ALL evangelicals do not come from small towns. The majority of mega churches, which happen to be in big cities across america, are evangelical. The RAPTURE may seems silly to you, but if you do a serious study about it, you will discover that the principle is in the Bible just as much as the principle of TRINITY is in the Bible.
For the record, the word "rapture" comes from the Latin word "rapturo," which in turn was a translation of the Greek verb "caught up" found in 1 Thes 4:17. You can call it the pre-trib rapture, the pre-trib rapturo, or the pre-trib caught up--it's all the same thing.

I think that it is true that groups of people in areas where there is a more homogeneous mix are less open minded and more likely to go along with what everyone else in town thinks. It is just part of human nature, part of our survival instinct. You do tend to find more fundamentalist and Evangelicals in smaller, secluded communities, IMO.
