All software is registered in the register, and this information is sent to Microsoft without identifying you and checking the CD key with what they have and they know if there is more than one copy. If you don't own it remove it or lose your computer. If you don't own the software or have a valid license for it you will get your computer crashed and are inviting yourself for some jail time.

Serial numbers. If 5000 people are using the same one, it's kind of a giveaway.

Duplicate registrations for the same serial number.
