I have white stuff in my fingernails for as long as I can remember. I dont know hat it is or how its there but Ive always wondered about it. Some people say it is from a lack of calcium, but I drink milk all the time. What is this stuff and how can I get rid of it?

If it's under the nail, it could be fungus. Get any of the liquid or cream antifungal agents, like Lamisil. They're over-the-counter so you don't need to see a doc first. Won't hurt to try it.

Might also be psoriasis. That's genetic, hence hereditary. If anybody in your family has it, you may too. No cures for that, unfortunately.

White spots under your nails is called luekopenia, it is caused usually by some trauma. A person may hit their nails, and it will cause the nail to lift off of the nail bed, leaving the white spots in those areas of trauma.

I was told once that it was because of lack of calcium. Check with your doctor, maybe on your next visit and he will tell you.
