Hi, I have had my dog for about 3 years now and I cannot keep her anymore. She is a half german shepard and half sharpei. Does anyone know of a place in the LA county area that i can take my dog to? Like a rescue center or someplace, NOT like a shelter that puts dogs to sleep after awhile. I am willing to pay to go to a good home. Thanks

I hope it's an absolute good reason why you are getting rid of your dog. That is so sad. Shelters are so overcrowded. I just visited our local shelter this weekend and there are so many poor dogs!
Start putting up posters, ask friends, family, co workers, have your family ask around....ask, ask, ask!!!!
If you still do not find an owner, go to your local pet store and ask around in there.
Hope you find a place for her!

please do not take her to the animal shelter. I had a really bad experiece with them and even the people who worked there told me that most of the time if a dog comes in and can not be adopted out in 7 days they are put to sleep. My dog had just had a litter of pups and i was running out of options of what to do with her b/c in a unexpected out of state move was forcing me to find her another home. I ended up keeping her and the pups at a friends grandparents home and got her back when i could afford housing that allowed her breed (she a pit bull). talk to friends, co workers, family, people that you see on a regular bases ( clerk at store by your house, cashier at the supermarket, etc.) Please find a good home for her or someone to watch her for you until you can get her back. Some people are nice enough to be "foster" parents. I provided the nice people who kept my dog money to take care of her and the pups with and visited twice a week to play and clean up the yard where she had messed. There are programs that are around for "foster pet parents". I think this would be the best thing to do.

go to your local animal shelter and ask them if you could cell your dog to them but only do that if it is a good behaved dog. if not put an add in the news paper but have an inter view with the people be for you sell your dog because they might be mean and abuse to your dog.

Animal friends in an excellent no kill shelter. You could also try posting a sign at a local vet....maybe someone would want to take her in.

Go to petfinder.com.

They list shelters, and can search for ones by your city name or zip code to find ones closest to you.

Thank you for trying to successfully re-home your dog.

go to www.petfinder.com and find a rescue group near you.

Good luck and good for you for trying to find her a good home if you can't keep her.
