Given then fact that there are billions and billions of stars and planets and more than likely, other intelligent life in the universe. Why do we think that Earth is the "apple in god's eye"? How would we explain that to other life out there, that our planet is the prize in god's universe. Isn't that a litte arrogant?

Or to even tell those other beings that the creator of the entire universe looks just like me! Now THAT is arrogant! We are no more important than any other life out there. This imagined self-importance seems to be a product of religion.

of course I believe earth is important, it's our home. But people put earth on a different level than other worlds.

life thrives in the most harshest of places. If the earth was farther or closer, life would still evolve. It wouldn't be human but life would be here.

Arrogant, not really. Ego Centric maybe. But realistic is more like it. I really have no feelings for any planet orbiting Alpha Centauri. Why can't the creator look like us? Can't he do what he pleases?
You keep saying we and our. Where do you get your base of enumeration? I never have those thoughts, my wife doesn't either.

Humans are just arrogant people that's all and earth is the only home we know. It is almost like a global pride thing and we haven't really been clued in on all of the other planets just like earyh or better. And plus, in the Bible it says that God created the heavens and THE EARTH, so naturally one would feel special living on God's creation. Yes, we are not that important, but for some reason, God loves us anyways as well as all of the other beings He may have created without our knowledge. Other than that, don't be angered by small-minded people. Just be happy to be alive and enjoy earth while you can, even if it is not the place you would most like to be. Godd luck! Bye!

WOw. YOu make all kinds of assumptions.

Life exists in temperatures from a (let's be really generous) -160F below Zero (colder than coldest recorded temp on earth) to like 800F. That's not such a massive window. And it needs a very narrow window of chemical situations, namely the abundance of h20 or h202.

You took that and made it into life is inevitable everywhere, and then descided that, even though it has yet to be discovered anywhere else, it is arrogant to think earth is special.

And all this because you read an article about some scientists who reviewed info from a 30 year old mars probe that got some anomylous readings that might be explainable through equipment error, contamination, or water hitting peroxide, and decided it was probably trhough the destruction of "extremiphiles" on MArs, that no other probe has yet to discover.

Because Earth IS the most important planet in the universe. God sent His Son to Earth and no where else. God created Earth to be perfectly suitable for life. God focuses His entire attention on humans dwelling on Earth. The Hubble space telescope has sent back pictures which show that Earth is literally in the centre of the universe.

I totally agree. The reason we as humans think we are the most important planet in the universe is because that's all we know. But people think Earth is the "apple of Gods eye" because they have been force fed that since birth. Everyone believes books written years ago that have been changed and twisted to suit the King or Ruler at that times beliefs are true. It's not only arrogant but it's ignorant. Wake up people. Think for yourself.

People think the Earth is important because they live on it. So far, we haven't found any other planets that could support life as we know it. In God's eyes, who knows where the earth stands? But I don't know of anybody who refers to the "Earth" as "the apple of God's eye". That reference was given to the nation of Isreal, when comparing it to all the other nations on the Earth.

The thoughts and attitudes of "alien races" is irrevelant, as is our attitudes, thoughts, and theorys towards them. The races themselves are not known to exist; you are wasting your time imagining sins against people we don't know about!

God's image is spiritual, not necessarily physical. It is the inside that counts, remember?

Well, for starters we live here. Just like Americans love America, New Yorkers love the Yankees and Southerners love to fry

Scientifically, though, It's because our distance from the sun, is just right, not too cold not too hot. Anywhere else, even bacteria could not survive

Oh, scratch that, I did read that a bacteria for Strep was found on Mars. But if we aren't better than bacteria, then we got problems!

We have no proof of life existing on any other planet.

And we'd BETTER believe that our planet is "most important". It's the one we have to live on. Why would we believe that Jupiter is more important than Earth? I think we already waste too much money chasing asteroids. We need to focus our money and science on the planet we were given.

Well, what are we supposed to do? We dont know about any other planets that could be of any use! And we cant get to them anyway. What other planet should we care about? And if we did care about another planet more than about earth, what can we do about it, really?

I have to say, your question is quite pointless. I dont think you thought it over.

P.s.- OTHER worlds? Exactly which worlds are you talking about? In case you haven't noticed, we are the only world as far as we know. If you're so smart and know everything, why don't you point out one of those "other" worlds to us, and let us settle everything peacefully? And no, imaginary worlds dont count, my dear.

Earth supports life for every human I know. That makes it a very important planet in my universe.

When you find life on other planets, let me know. I will certainly add its name in my "most important planets" book.
