What type of info are you looking for? I have taken care of several people with huntington's chorea/disease before. It is a familial disease that is passed from parent to child through a mutated normal gene. This mutation causes a degeneration in brain cells that leads to uncontrolled movements, decreased mental faculties and emotional changes. The age of onset and rate the disease progresses varies from person to person. It isn't a nice disease. That isn't cut and pasted either.

The people I took care of were older and in the later stages of the disease. They were unable to care for themselves because of involuntary jerky like movements. They were unable to dress themselves, feed themselves, get around by themselves or care for themselves. Some of them had difficulty swallowing so you had to be careful of the types of food that you gave them, all soft foods that were mostly ground up, some had feeding tubes. There were emotional problems like anger, frustration, depression and some had dementia.
On the up side I know that there has been research in genetics to try and stop the progression of this disease and some experiments with medications that look promising, but you can probably find those yourself.

Be optomistic, a cure is just around the corner. Great strides are being made in medicine every day.

It is caused by the degeneration of brain cells. All diseases and conditions start at cellular level. Because the Immune System is compromised before the diagnosis, it shows that it does not have the ability to attack the disease itself. If cellular communication was taking place, i.e. cells were sending out the correct messages, so they could be identified by the Immune System, then the body would be able to defend itself. Thousands of people with similar diseases have been helped with a relatively new science which took four Nobel Prizes for medicine. Take a look at the following site to see the amazing stories people have to tell. Take care.

My sister took care of a woman about 25 years ago who had it and from what I remember she was very skinny and very nervous. She had to have her food cut up in very small pieces because she had trouble swallowing and had to have things done a certain way or she would get very angry. She would carry her house key around with her and constantly misplace it and accuse someone of stealing it. I know it isn't much info but I hope that it helped. It is a very heartbreaking disease.

i don't know what kind of information u want but i know that there isn't a cure for it, it is associated with bad driving skills (seriously) and the disease it is most like is parkinsons. i know of 2 ppl with it, it's genetic, and it will sooner or later be fatal. once you start to deteriorate, it gets worse, FAST.

It is when the brain cells degenerate I know, and that causes uncontrolled movement, intellectual problems, and emotional problems. Good luck.
