No there not the same. Global warming is just as it sounds, the Earth is in a period of warming. The greenhouse effect is the mechanism in which some people belive the warming is happening. They belive that CO2 is traping the suns radiation and heating the Earth. There is no real science to support this and the Earth has been much warmer at many times throughout its history, even before the industrial revolution where man was putting CO2 into the atmosphere. So dont buy into the corporate scare tactics of the global warming hysteria and watch a movie called The Global Warming Swindle on google video to get more informed.

They are connected. Greenhouse gases (mainly CO2) thicken the atomosphere plus it eats the ozone layer away. The ozone layer deflects dangerous radiation waves which are more likely to enter the atmosphere. Also the Atmophere is thicker not letting as much of this heat out. This is the greenhouse effect.
Global Warming is just the general picture that is going on. The greenhouse effect is the action happening while Global Warming is the result.

No, they're not, at least not in the present sense. The planet has gone through cooling and warming cycles before and will continue to do so. Ordinarily those changes take place very gradually, such that living things have plenty of time to adapt. The current warming trend, though, is progressing at an unprecedented rate - so rapidly that it is in fact causing major disruptions where previous warming did not. Those disruptions promise to bring us some very serious problems, such as production and distribution of food and material goods necessary for survival, and serious disruption in the availability of clean drinkable water. The shortage of water is severe already in parts of the world and is only going to get worse. People under 30 years of age will live to see wars fought over water instead of oil! We now are aware that human activity is the cause of this unprecedented acceleration of the warming process. If we act immediately, it may not be too late to prevent the worst catastrophe ever to strike humankind. We need to get serious about it and start kicking a s s and taking names!

Not exactly. The greenhouse effect is the name given to the phenomenon of light passing through something, like glass or the atmosphere, getting changed to heat when it is absorbed by a surface, like the ground, and then the heat is unable to pass out through that same substance that the light just passed through. The Earth's atmosphere causes this phenomenon, and man made pollution is increasing its ability to do so, resulting in the other phenomenon called global warming.

The greenhouse effect is the act of heat becoming trapped, while global warming is the result of heat being trapped, so they aren't exactly the same thing.

The greenhouse effect is unquestionably real and helps to regulate the temperature of our planet. It is essential for life on Earth and is one of Earth's natural processes. Global warming is
the observed increase in the average temperature of the Earth's atmosphere and oceans in recent decades and its projected continuation into the future. hence both of them are different.
