Depending on where you work, I would recommend Land Park. As a rule the housing cost is higher than average, but you will benefit by being about ten minutes from downtown or the Capitol. The many trees are beautiful and help to moderate the temperature in the summer.
Land Park is close to midtown if you like bars and restaurants; it's close to William Land Park and the river if you like to run or bike. The schools are the best. Neighbors know neighbors. If you have a dog you will meet lots of people on your daily walk (s). It's a great, safe neighborhood for walking. The crime that happens here is usually car break-ins for stereos.
What you will *not* find is an excess of chain restaurants, strip malls or traffic.

I agree with John Smith, that is where I live and it is still reasonable rent wise and safe. I pay $1000.00 for a large 2 bedroom.
I like it because it only takes me 7 minutes to get to work. And the Sacramento River is just a 5 minute walk away.
Good Luck

I stay interior the united kingdom and in a city not a city (approximately one hundred,000). So i think i can not relatively remark on what this is like in Sacramento. I each so often hear the occasional siren from an ambulance or hearth engine. have not heard a police siren for months. customarily I in simple terms hear birds. i'm relatively fortunate. this is risk-free to stroll on the city and that i've got under no circumstances felt sick comfy right here. i'm specific there are issues right here, yet as i don't bypass to the community golf equipment on the weekends i can not see any darkish factors. there's no grafitti the two and there's a working quayside the place boats tie as much as unload, yet they have made the quayside very exceptionally with plant existence and fountains. Our city doubles its inhabitants interior the summertime time simply by fact we are in simple terms 2 miles from the sea and 3 miles of sea coast!! i think very fortunate to stay right here. in fact this is this manner of wonderful component to england that the Jackson kinfolk have desperate to construct one in all their residences right here. Tito Jackson is already residing a pair of mile away.

i'm a kid in sacramento and i like the pocket area. it's a nice little suburban area with several supermarkets, gas stations, resturaunts, elementary, middle, and high schools; churches, lots of diverse people, and so many other things. rent can very a lot in the pocket.
in my opinion, crime rate is pretty low compared to some areas, but sacramento's crime rate is slowly rising. it's a great area to live in, but just make sure that you have a security system installed in your home

I lived in Folsom for nine years and loved it there. It is located about 15-20 minutes east of downtown Sacramento. It is a relatively new developing area with lots of building going on, residential as well as major businesses.

I lived in Natomas for several years and really liked it. NOT south or north natomas but the lesser known "west" Natomas. That is, get off I-5 at Garden highway and turn right (west). Several apartments off Gateway Oaks as well as another off the next street (Orchard I think it's called?). Close to downtown, close to airport, close to freeways, close to restaurants on Garden Highway, reasonable rents (or at least used to be?) and it's as safe as any neighborhood in Sac.

Im a kid, and I live in Sacramento. You should live in Rancho Cordova. It's near Kaiser, spas, Safeway. No crimes at all! Don't take it from a kid. I know you won't listen to me.
