he is 2 yrs old and an indoor cat, there is no swelling, but it has gotten a bit larger than at first,its on his lip, on the side, tried to wipe it off but doesnt really come off...dont really wanna go to vet, i am sure those folks are tired of me running up there so much, but my cats are my babies, i have heard about dental cleanings for ctas but my boss said his cat was done, and he couldnt eat for so long after, he ended up dying so that is TOTALLY out....any other dvice suggestions?

If he happens to be an orange cat, it could be a perfectly normal pigment change-kind of like freckles in redheads. I forget the name of it, but my orange tabby has these on his lips and along the edges of his eyelids.

At 2, I would not expect him to need a dental cleaning. Have the vet check the next time he's there for his annual checkup. As for your boss's cat, that's extremely unusual. I wonder if it had other health issues?

Sounds to me like your cat has feline acne.
He needs to go to the vet for this but it;s CHEAP.
