I have, in public.. I said something to a woman that was leaving, and the washroom was PACKED with women. She was so embarrassed...
But really, how disgusting... UGH. I should say something more often than i do!!

Not usually - but once I ordered a sandwich from a store and the woman was mopping & doing chores while waiting for customers to come in. She then attempted to make my sandwich - whereupon - I asked "aren't you going to wash your hands first?" Then she did. I also emailed the company's headquarters and told them that their employees need a refresher on hygiene. I never got a response. Do I go back there to order food...no! Some people are really ignorant!

that is a tough call but even though it is gross, i say no. most adults know that they are supposed to wash their hands and for whatever reason she chooses not to, and that is her right. i don't see any point of making an uncomfortable situation. anyone who doesn't wash their hands probably doesn't use a kleenex to wipe their nose or cover their mouths when they sneeze or cough so they are just contaminating the air numerous ways.
just use that as a reminder to wash your hands very frequently, more than just after the bathroom, keep your hands off of banisters and shopping carts, buy antibacterial soap, and keep your fingers out of your mouth!
hopefully she had an antibacterial wipe in her pocketbook she used!
take care! SD

Depends on who it was, if it was someone i know i would advise the person even though it's assumed that most adults should already know that they're supposed to wash their hands.
Onthe other hand, if it was someone i don't really know or a stranger, i wouldn't speak up but i would remember not to shake hands with them... hahaha!

I notice this behavior at work all the time ( from ladies ) I never say anything but I make a mental note about their habit. I take care not to borrow anything from them or touch things on their desk if at all possible...
The biggest offender in my office is also the biggest donater of home baked goods ... needless to day I don't take eat anything she brings in.

Not unless they are going to serve me food. It is not my business. I always take a paper towel to open the door. No sense in smearing those germs back after washing.

I don't say anything, it's none of my business. And if it's someone I know, I make a mental note to be busy the next time they invite me for a homecooked meal.

It depends on the situation. If it is my neighbor and I was just saying hello... then no. There is no reason to embarass them. However... if it is my dental hygienist.... HECK YEAH!!! I would be saying something!
