Today in school during 6th period [12:40pm or so], I had a sudden itch on the back of my head and I discovered a big bump that was very painful. It was redish and bumpy. Then, just not too long ago about 8:00pm, I discovered yet ANOTHER bump on the front of my head [pretty close to my hairline]. What is this? I'm afraid that maybe it's some sort of cancer or tumor symptom! My mom suggested I wait a while to see what happens, but I'm still not sure. Does anyone have an idea of what this is? Please answer, I'm kind of scared :P

Its definetly not chicken pox. I already had those at two. And they aren't itchy, I just "discovered" a bump like that.

If you have not bumped your head and have not eaten any new foods, medications or have not beed exposed to anything new in your enviorment. My suggestion would be to seek medical attention right away.

I had exactly samething while I was in college. I didn't do anything, but it went away. Everyonce in while I might get one or two red spots on my head but I found Cortaid(over the counter cream) makes it go away quick(in a day or less). I don't know what the hell it is, but I have read stress can lead to skin rash and red bumps in some cases. Don't touch it a lot though because it gets irritated and get bigger. Try Cortaid which you can get at any drug store and if it bothers you that much talk to a doctor. It actually might be treatable with some dietary supplements instead of pricy prescription drugs.

These could be what is known as an abcess (commonly called a boil). They are often painful and can become infected. You may need to see a doctor to have them drained if they are large and painful, and you may need some antibiotics. It could also be a result of contact dermatitis, which means you are having a reaction to a hairproduct etc. It doesn't sound like cancer or a tumor. Hope this makes you feel better!

My best guess is it's a zit. You can get them anywhere, and your scalp is full of pores just waiting to get clogged. This is even worse if you haven't washed in a while. I'd clean everything throughly, wait a few days and see if it's getting better, than go from there. Mom's advice sounds best.

VERY doubtful its cancer or a tumor. More likely some form of allergy to something in your environment. New shampoo, new detergent. Don't worry I'm sure it will take care of itself.

if you have a fever with it, and experience more little red itchy bumps, it's probably chicken pox.
