Apple seeds in small doses are not considered poisonous, but they do contain trace amounts of cyanide. If you swallow apple seeds from an apple though you won't get sick. You would have to eat a whole lot of apple seeds to get sick though. Don't feed seeds to birds or small animals though, it could get them sick.

Yes they are poisonous. No, they won't normally kill you. The danger comes if the seed is broken and you burp the gas back up and breath that gas. How often do all these things happen? How often do you get enough of it to hurt? How many recorded deaths are there due to burping cyanide gas because of swallowing broken apple seeds? I don't know. I have not heard of any conclusively. I suspect that you are safe. Don't try it. You might be sensitive enough to be the unlucky one. Don't worry about it either.

Hi and apple seeds do contain a cyanide compound. But you would have to eat a huge amount of them before you would get sick. They say even the most avid eater would not be in any danger. They also have a protective coating on them that allows them to pass through our body with the poison never even coming into contact with us. So unless you chew them up really good and eat a barrel full, you should definately be safe from any type of poisoning.

No - I've picked fallen apples, cored them, washed them and blend them even with a few seeds in it. Cooked it for apple jam and apple sauce.

eat a cupful and you'd likely die of cyanide poisoning. but who'd be loony enough to do that?
