Try reading instead.

I have had a TV in my room since I was about 6, I am now 16. I can't sleep unless it's on and it ends up keeping me awake. Don't start it because it's a hard habit to break.

Sometimes it does for me but if I'm interested I can't fall asleep! I hate it because I want to keep watching it but I have school in the morning or your case could be work which ever it is. You could try it like if your show comes on at 9pm and it is an hour long and you have to go to bed at atleast 10pm watch it while you're laying down so your body is getting ready to fall asleep. Or if you have TV in your room watch it in there and after it's over try to go to sleep then. Hope this helps!

l know of people using TV as a "lullaby" to sleep. They just click on the sleep button in case they fall asleep. The most boring shows work for them.
Try listening to the radio or reading some books/magazines.
Others even light a lavender scent candle to induce sleep.

Sometimes watching t.v. can make you go to sleep, but sometimes it will make you more awake. It will make you more awake because of the bright screen. It can make you go sleep if you are watching a really boring show.

start watching infomercials. If that doesn't put you to sleep you have extreme insomnia. Reading can also be good
