I work for a Doctors office as a Medical Assistant. They don't get kick-backs as far as cash or vacations. The government made that illegal years ago. Drug companies supply offices lunches and invite them to dinner to discuss their drugs. BUT......This does not mean that the docs are going to prescribe those drugs. All it does is drive up the cost of prescription drugs. Some offices also accept samples that they stock in the office. These are used for patients with out insurance coverage or are low income.

Some do, or else they get wined and dined and lavished with gifts by sales reps. Its a booze, smooze and cruise industry. The pharmautical industry like most other industries in the world operates on developing networks and fostering relationships within the heirarcy which often includes items or activities that facilitate the forming of those relationships. It is the world of "other politics". But this might not be the case in your country. (AUS)
