Hey Science Geek,

There are tons of sites where you can research ancestors for free. There are look up sites, forums, data bases, and request sites (get records), and probably more. Several were given above. Cindi's list is really a list of lists of lists... Some of the associated sites are actually pay sites. Here are some free sites:

www.familysearch.org or www.rootsweb.com. There are many websites thru www.myfamily.com and they're free but you need an invite from a member - can maybe find one thru rootsweb or, if you can get into gencom forums at www.genealogy.com, you can ask questions and maybe run into a member of other sites who will invite you in.
