When humans and all other life on this planet, is made around atoms of carbon. Dust is made of silicate, which is what rocks are made of. If we were made of dust, then you would see it in our molecules. There may be other life in the universe made of silicon, which is also a flexable element. But we are not made of dust, maybe stardust but not dust.

Most excellent. You, kind poser, have provided this forum with an outstanding example of an anachronism. This occurs when one puts a thought/idea/object of one era backwards into history/time. Thus, Alexander the Great did not watch the Disney Channel off a satellite dish on his RV.
Your distinction of carbon based life is spot on. Whatever one may interpret from Genesis 2, it is clear that scientific thought in 4000 or so BC (When the story first surfaced - not creation) did not have a clue about the atomic weight table and the superb observation you make. Splendiforous anachronism

ok, people get that from a verse in the Bible stating that we will come as we have been created, as dust. Basically, God made humans (man) out of dust, but not literally, you're taking this very literally. God was saying that we are lowly, we weren't made out of air, or the atmosphere, or something high, we were made out of dust. We can not be higher than God.

I dont know if there are actually people who take it as literally as saying that our bodies have been made of dust, and there should be dust remnants in our bodies, but yea, its just a picture from the Bible, a way God explained our worthiness of Him.

eldad9- God didn't make us like *poof* and there we were, because He wanted us to see something from it. He's God yes, but He also knows what He is doing. He has a plan. What good would it be for God to just be like poof and you were there. Just read what I said above.

No one believes we are made of dust. That's silly. Our allergies would be out of CONTROL if we were....bad joke alert...
Ok but in all seriousness, the Bible says we came from the dust, some versions say clay. But that means we originated from the dust but were altered and formed into what you see today by the hands of God who can manipulate any material He wishes into another material. Namely flesh.

Really? Did you know that scientists estimate that 70 % of dust is dead human skin, and that dirt actually contains all the basic components necessary for human life to "spawn"? No you didn't know that did you? Look it up...

Better then apes, with half a brain and women were made from bone, not dust, unless you want to be technically correct and say the bone came from dust and therefore, so did the women.

God changed it into a different 'kind' when he made people, duh.

Kinda makes you wonder why he needed to make humans out of anything. Couldn't he spring them into existence out of thin air?

Also, on what day was dust made?

can you honestly tell me that back when the bible was written they knew the difference between dust and star dust or even that there was star dust?

If you are a Christian or not, can't you just read the Bible in Genesis chapter 1?

Very Good Point.

Dust is what moses declared back before we had micro-scopes. and other finite tools to differentiate type of matter.
Good point though.

This is why taking the Bible seriously makes the intelligent people laugh at the expense of the creationists.

"OMG!! You came from a monkey!"
"OMG!! You came from a nudist hippy made from dust!"

or

"OMG!! You came from a monkey!"
"OMG!! So did you!"
