Go to a dermatologist. There may be a reason that is easily remedied. If you cannot, try rogaine or one of the other products out there now.I started losing mine at age 18 and back then there was little I could do,so when I got to 22,I shaved my head.Back then(1986) a white man with a shaved head stuck out like a sore thumb.I endured some ridicule and had a hard time getting dates sometimes but I survived and so can you.I sincerely hope you can fix your hair loss issue but if you have to be like me,remember, bald, shaved heads are much more the norm these days.I find lots of women that find me attractive.Plus, think of all the money you will save on shampoo and haircuts.I have not had to buy either in 20 years(by the way I am 42) Good Luck my brother.

Some of the other posters have sent you some myths. For example, all hair is dead. It doesn't need sunshine and its primary source of oxygen comes to the follicle via the blood, not the sky.
Also, vitamins and protein will only help if you are malnourished. You are probably experiencing male pattern hair loss, which is genetic, but don't freak out, okay? Vitamins and stuff won't correct male pattern hair loss, but there *are* treatments. That Rogaine stuff works. It can stop hair loss and sometimes reverse it. But it works best if you start taking it early. Really, the earlier the better.
If it doesn't work for you, you have other options, the most persuasive of which is a transplant. (Its not as weird as it sounds). See, men don't lose the hair on the back of their heads. So basically, all the doctor does is take the hairs from the back and moves them to the top and front. Once transplanted, the hairs shouldn't fall out again. The hairs will grow and it *is* your hair. Now, the procedure is expensive, but you should be able to afford it if you save your $$$. In the meantime, give Rogaine a try.
And relax! You sound terrified. Almost all men lose their hair and *most* of them start losing it in their early 20s. What you're going through is normal.
And hey, hang around on these boards long enough and you'll read opinions from plenty of girls who like the bald look.

Use a good salon shampoo. Salons have specialty shampoos and conditioners that can help. Nioxin is a really good shampoo and they have conditioners. You can get it at the store called Ulta. Sometimes hair loss is because of bad shampoos. Head and Shoulders and Prell will cause hair loss-so will flex, finese, and vidal sasson. A medicine called Propecia can stop the hair loss. Rogaine doesn't work. Get some blood work done so you can make sure that it isn't a medical problem. A good multi vitamin will cause you hair and nails to get stronger. Baldness has now been proven--like anything else-can be inherited from both or either of your parents.

Hair loss is a symptom of many illnesses, so you should get it checkout out by a doctor. Of course, it's also a symptom of male pattern baldness. Thankfully, there are prescriptions for that as well. Or, you could just shave it, or at least buzz it to make it less obvious. Whatever you do, don't keep it long. Long and balding is NOT hot.

Baldness is inheirted from the mothers side, take a good look at your moms relatives. In the meantime, don't wear hats, don't use a blowdryer and eat lots of protein, especially tuna....seemed to help a couple of my friends. However, the genetics factor is key and there is no real cure.

Try not to use gel or strong dandruff shampoos dye can also cause hair to fall out at an early age. Also dont try to blowdry it cause this could cause it to get frizzy and tangled.

If you wear a hat too often, you WILL lose it as your scalp is deprived of the necessary oxygen and sunshine needed. Or you make suffer from a lack of protein.

Assess your situation. Are you overly stressed? Change something. Also, see your doctor.
