You could name him for a place in Australia, like:
Allworth, New South Wales, population 1,427.
Or Ando, New South Wales, pop. 90.
You see what I mean. Go to http://www.fallingrain.com/world/AS/ for the names.
Of course, Sydney, New South Wales, pop. 367,986, is one of the best-known place names in Australia; people wouldn't have to ask you where you got that name.
Or Oz, as that's what the Australians call their country.

is it a boy or girl?
I think somthing like Bingo would be really cute. After all, there is a whole song already for him!
You want to pick a name that has only 1 or 2 syllables, this will make training easier. if you constantly have to say, Alexander sit! Alexander down! off Alexander! Alexander come! It will get old. Having a simple short name will also make it easier for the dog to have a quick snappy response to it's name. Once you name your puppy you can easily teach it it's name by getting some tastey treats, (like, a taste of lunch meat, nothing big and crunchy that takes too long to chew) Have your treat ready and call your puppy in a happy tone, if she looks at you, pop that treat in her mouth. if she doesnt, wait about 5 seconds and try again. she will very quickly learn that her name means look at you. In this little game she doesnt have to come and sit, all she has to do is turn and look at you. We use this game in our puppy classes and it works wonders, Good luck with your new puppy!

You are going to LOVE having him! My Aussie is 10+ years and she is my baby girl....she is such a wonderful friend & protector! My son was 4 when he named her---Blackee.
Picking a name really should fit your dogs personality & looks. So if your dog is like any other Aussie he's got multi colors ----
how about:
1) Mixer : for his mixed colors
Aussies are also well known for herding, jumping, protecting & running, how about:
2) Boss : when he is herding, he is the "boss"
3) Dep : for "deputy" as a protector
It's kinda hard since I haven't seen him. Well, I'm sure you'll pick a perfect name.
PS-Train him as soon as you get him, they're so smart!!! Oh, how about Einstien! haha

Awww! I have an aussie named kiki, and she was named after her grandfather who also was an aussie. His name was kodiak cuz they look like little kodiak bears! Don't stress too much over names! Once you two establish a relationship then he'll do something memorable and out pops a name!! Lol, I've been wanting to name my new shaggy dog duck...lol. I think its adorable!

why does it have to be a " Dog Name "? He should be your friend anyway. Give him a name that fits his attitude or looks. He doesnt have to have a name the second you get him. Shortly afterwards though....
