my friend smokes a little amount of pot "once a day", and keeps saying that it is neither considered adiction, nor is harmful to his health. he says it only helps him be more fresh and alert during the day and feel better.
is he right? is this considered adiction? how bad is it?

It's legal where I live, and while I've never tried it I know quite a few people who smoke pot, I don't really notice anything about them when they smoke a single joint, even if they've smoked a lot it affects them far less than if they've even had a couple of alcoholic drinks (without the pot that is, not in addition to it!). The little effect I have seen is that they get more relaxed, while I've unfortunately seen lots of people on alcohol get aggressive, yet alchohol is legal in the US and pot is not... I've never been able to see the logic in that!

I do think it's somewhat addictive but I'm never sure if that's the pot or the smoking itself, for that we KNOW is terribly additive! I've never personally known anyone nor do I even know of anyone who's gone on to harddrugs after starting with pot so that doesn't seem to be quite as dangerous as it is made out to be either. How could anyone prove anyways that when people go on to harddrugs, was it the pot or was it another problem with selfcontrol/being easily influenced etc, that they already had before ever using the pot?

No, this is not consider adiction. But what so ever if he or she like smoking she will want to smoke it again. Did they really really need to smoke? The answer is "NO".

Pot didn't feel fresh nor alert during the day. Make you more sleepy, lazy and you think of things differently in your mind. The only thing about pot is make you feel better when you are in pain or sick.

If I may advise, there are all different kind. some are safe and some are not, Best is not to start smoking.

well pot is very much addictive but most people don't see it as a real drug cause its natural grown on this earth and cause compared to all the other drugs out there its like seen as the least harmful so people don't feel like drug addicts ,in some countries its legal ,but either way you look at it if you need any thing to make your days complete whether its pot, cigarettes, caffeine or coffee its an addiction

I know someone who smokes a little pot everyday too, and he sais that he needs to. They say its not addictive, but I think it is, because why do so many people claim they NEED it.. ?? I don't understand how it could make a person feel fresh, my friend says it helps him to sleep. I don't think its a serious issue, but If he's smoking it, I think it would be similar to smoking ciggarettes for his lungs.. Good luck with the answers.

"pot equals 17 cigs"?

is that a pound o'pot, or one drag off a joint, or what? You fail to mention not only quantity but also method...and the source is, let me guess, somebody's cousin, right?
