Just curious as to if you are a stay at home or working mom. Why you made this choice, and if you are happy with it.

I'm a stay at home , work at home , single mom. I truly love being able to stay home and be with my daughter, and don't even consdier going back to my old professional job and leaving my kid. But, it seems like 1/2 the people I know praise me for my decision, and the other 1/2 think it's better to go to work and take the child to daycare.

Just curious as to what decisions others have made.

Right now you could say I'm a stay at home mom. I am also going to school to get my nursing degree. I agree that I wouldn't want some daycare to "raise" my kid, but some people have no choice. But it's also good, especially if there is only one kid in the household, to go to daycare, it teaches them how to socialize with other children, teaches them how to share etc. What really need are better daycare centers with less of a turn over rate for the employees. It's also what works out best for a family, and I don't think anybody should be criticized about their decision to work or not to work.

Really, if you are happy with your decision, just ignore the criticism.

Many working moms feel bad about not spending enough time with their kids, but if they are happier working, they'll be better moms. There are people who criticize working moms and others who snub stay at home moms.

There is no one blanket solution for every woman. Your way works for you. Don't let someone who has some preconceived notion of what motherhood should be fool you into thinking any differently.

I have a at home little buisness (I set my schedual), I work one day a week at a convienance store, and I stay home with my three kids while my husband goes to work. We decided I would go back to work at least 25 hours a week when all the kids are in school. This way one of us will always be with them. We believe it is what's best for our family. I understand the 1/2 and 1/2, whenever we have $$ trouble ppl ask me why I don't work or get a "real" job. Answer, you think this isn't work?

I am a stay at home mom. This is not by choice but I love it. With day care expenses being beyond our budget even if both of us were working we chose that I would stay home and he could work since he would get paid more.

I am a working mom and I am fine with that. It was never a choice for my husband and me financially to allow for me to stay home. In fact we made arrangements for one of us to be home at all times. My husband works the afternoon shift and is home with my son all day and when he leaves for work, my father watches him for about an hour then I come home and am with him all evening.

I feel as if being a working mom is better for both me and my son. I get time away and can be an adult for a period of time, which allows me to give him my all when I come home.

I'm at stay-at-home mom, also. I chose to stay at home when I had my 3rd child. My first marriage was a disaster, and I had 2 children to raise. So, I worked full time and never had any time for them. Then I remarried and have 2 more children w/ him. We decided it was best for me to quit that job and I was gonna get a part time job when pg w/ my 3rd, but 6 mos. later I was pg again. So, we decided, I would just stay home indefinitely. Probably until the youngest starts kindergarten. Partly b/c it was cheaper than daycare and also b/c my 3rd child learned to walk and talk faster than most kids her age. I was home spending more quality time w/ her than she would receive in daycare. Now my last child is walking and talking just as fast. NOT to say that working women don't have smart children, I'm just saying it was best for us.

All stay at home moms ARE working moms. When your children are small, you don't even get bathroom breaks!
