That's an old 'Billie Holliday' song & I've thought about that line. I think it means that child knows who he/she is, they have a healthy concept of who they are, a confidence? But, that's just my take on it.

The blood of Jesus saves us all from sin. Children, no matter the age or sin of the parent- are a gift from the good Lord. They are our future. God also says "judge not, let ye also be judged" Good day. They could be viewed as hypocritical, if of course they actually knew their bible. Chances are, most do not. They only know what the local church or the parents teach them. I believe they are/were mislead more than they are being hypocritical. Then again, I am a different sort of Christian. We all do wrong. So for me to say that someone does more wrong than I, would be hypocritical. I am not sure they are trying to take their wrong and make it seen good either. I believe most people in this situation try to be optimistic with a tough break and make the best out of it. So no, I guess I do not believe they are being hypocritical. The fact that all three of my children were conceived before my husband and I were married may have a bearing on my opinion. Which is why, theoretically, regardless the age- I am no better than than them. Even though I was 22 yrs old with my first- I was not married.
