I recieved a speeding ticket and it is gonna cost 135 to pay. I called the Judge and she told me to send in 109 for defenisve driving? Is this what I am paying for, I have seen online classes for Texas that are 25 bucks. Is the 109 that I am gonna send for the defensive driving class or should I call them back to make sure what this really is?

When the court allows you to take defense driving for the dismissal of your speeding ticket, you still have to pay for the court costs associated with your ticket. That way even though your ticket is dismissed after successful completion and documentation of the defensive driving course you took to get the ticket dismissed by the court is given to the J.P. court in Texas, you are still going to pay the administrative costs associated with having received the ticket.

Check with your jurisdiction but you must also pay the cost of the defensive driving class, in addition to the cost you were quoted by that court. I believe the $109 is the court cost fees you must pay in addition to the defensive driving course itself and are the court costs that are not waived by a court that allows you to take a defensive driving course to keep the ticket from hurting your driving record.

In your case, just pay the ticket. $109 is the court cost. You will still have to pay for the defensive driving as well. If you do defensive driving, you will only save $1. And, if you get a ticket within a year with a higher fine, you will not be able to take defensive driving.

But, if you pay the fine, it will stay on your record, and may effect you insurance rate.

Concerning an above answer, we do not give tickets for no reason. If you got pulled over, and ticketed, you did something wrong. Yes, rolling a stop sign, not using your blinker, and speeding up to catch a yellow light is illegal. Even if you don't think it is. If you don't like it, do something about getting the traffic laws in your state changed.
