They are similar. Turquoise is the name of a rock especially prolific and popular in the southwest US that is a variety of shades of green-blue. Aqua is generally bluer than turquoise, but still a blue-green. Some turqouise stones can be aqua in color.
I guess it's no wonder it's confused you.

Aqua is a shade between green and cyan. Turquoise is more of a blue/green. They do look alot alike only difference is Turquoise is considered an actual color and aqua is more of a shade. And by the way any question unknown is not a dumb question!

Think of it as turquoise is more solid as in the stone. Now think Aqua which is lighter as in water. Turq is in the blue color wave where aqua is in the green color wave.
A light turq would be more blue up against the aqua which is when you would see the green. There was a simular question about blue green vs green blue earlier, here it is the same. Blue-green has more blue where as green-blue has more green. So turq would be in the bluegreen family where as aqua would be in the greenblue family.

In my opinion, turquise is blue, aqua is a bit greener. Colors are more subjective than people want to admit, and lighting has a substantial affect of colors.
And every year I get to update my $80 Pantone Matching System book just cuz graphic artists think it's important. (Been a printer for the last 40 years...)

Turqouise is a bit darker than aqua. These are 2 of my fave colors and the theme colors of my bedroom. I've learned the difference.
They are both a mxture of green and blue, though.

some people actually told me they are the same. but I never really look into it since I never have to, but I think turquoise is greener than aqua.

they are very similar but when someone says Aqua i think it is a lighter almost neon-like color as compared to turquoise which is a darker bluer color.

Yes, but one is cloudy - the other clear. Turquoise is sort of a medium blue...solid color with black flecks to it. Like a stone... Aqua...or aquamarine is a clear blue colored gem stone.

Turquoise has a bluer color, Aqua has a greener color. Think of it as "Bluegreen and Greenblue.
