At that age, he's quite normal. I have an official chart here that says that he's in the 75th percentile for boys' height if he's 12 and 5'1". So stop worrying. Good night!
Oh yeah . . . average weight for boys at that age is about 90 lbs. Good night!
Another afterthought (since someone apparently didn't like my answer, even though it was the most concrete of all) . . . they told us in health class years ago that boys got their growth spurts between 13 and 16, with some small amount of growth afterward in many cases. If you're really curious . . . look at Wikipedia's article about puberty: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Puberty Really, you have nothing to worry about. Good night!

No he is fine.. I would not worry at all.. my son had his growth spurt when he was 13 and 14 more like 14.. and understand this.. I am 5'1" and now he is 6'3". He is such a tall kid! he is now twenty.. but he is still growing.. he will be 21 in March and he grew another 1/2 inch last year! Don't focus too much on that... He will be fine! Give your son some growing space...
God Bless and have peace...

Boys tend to physical maturity a few years later than girls.
Ages 14-16 is the norm for most boys when they get their growth spurt and their voices deepen.

As said by others everyone has growth spurt at different times. My husband grew a foot his junior year of high school. I don't think there is anything you can do to predict it or help it along

Hi Tony,
My Mom is 5'11" and my Dad is 6'4".
I am in my 30s and still waiting for my growth spurt (I am 5'5".)
My brother, on the other hand, is 6'2" and he had his growth spurt when he was 15.
Because height is truly genetic, there is nothing you can feed him to make him grow, However, make sure he gets plenty of fruits and vegetables and milk so his bones and body will be strong enough to handle his height.

He's only 12, but he's 5"1' tall. Give it time, everybody grows at a different rate. Soon enough your son will probably be taller than you.

Everyone grows at a different time and everything so maybe in a year or 2 but who knows? But he should eat a lot of healthy foods like milk, veggies, fruits, protein, etc.

He should take off any time now. I don't think there is anything you can do to make him grow faster except to be sure he is getting proper nutrition. When puberty hits him full blast, he'll shoot right up.
