The phrase "clash of civilizations" means the idea that some people in the world consider cultural differences so important that they want to fight over them.

What culture feels this strongly?

Well, look for a culture where the people have very strong opinions about other cultures. Stuff like:

"No one in America has a father!"
"Everyone is naked and having sex in America!!!"

Ring a bell? Sure, you guessed it, its the Islamic world! Oh, and this isnt for debate, they taken polls on this (Google PEW middle east attitudes), and yes, they hate hate hate American CULTURE, or western culture.

Why are there almost know Muslim olympic atheletes? Remember, there are 1.6 bllion of em!!! How many Islamic muscians do you know? Actors? Movies? At best, you have some resteraunts.

These are all items of CULTURE. They dont practipate cause they are taught to HATE THESE ASPECTS OF OUR CULTURE. GET IT?

Maybe we should live like them, separated from the opposite sex...

Well first learn to spell, now to answer your question, Islamic culture doesn't impress me anymore than a christian one. As for intolerance both Islamic and Christian societies have them, just look here in the good old US of A where some people that run our gov't have a problem with the politician from Minnesota being sworn in on a Koran, although they have agreed to let him use Thomas Jefferson's copy. History will show you the Christians have commited as many if not more atrocities then people of Islam, it's just that now we have something called the media that brings it into your living room on the six o' clock news

It is sad that being naive to other cultures can make people form stereotypes and false ideas about places they have never been. We are all people and even though we have cultural differences, it is not like we are aliens from another planet. But even if they hate us (which I am sure is not true for all of them), it does not do us well to hate them in return, it only makes things worse.
As for your question, no I'm am not exactly impressed by Islamic culture, but I do find it intriguing. Anything that relates to how other people think is interesting. Culture, religion, and philosphy are all shaped by and shape how people think, and I think that is fascinating knowledge to learn about.

The clash of cultures is going on right here in the US. I am familiar with two Muslims cultures: Morocco and Iraq. Of the two, Iraq (at least, Baghdad) is closer to ours. In fact, I would say that the culture in Baghdad is closer to American culture of fifty years ago, than our culture today. Strange as it sounds, the Muslims in Baghdad are more Christian than the typical American today.

In Baghdad, divorce is very uncommon. Abortion is prohibited, like it was here, fifty years ago. There are strict obscenity laws, similar to what we had her, half a century ago.

What you are describing are the opinions of places like Iran, and to a lesser degree, Saudi Arabia. All of the Islamic countries have different cultures. The Iraqis are very friendly and tolerant toward Christians. The Saudis and Iranians are not.

When you get your information from the mainstream media, you should know that it isn't reliable.

Nope, Islamic culture does not impress me.
The home computer was not invented in an Islamic country.
To the best of my knowledge, none of the microprocessors in general use were invented in Islamic countries.

Check the history of musical instruments and you will see Arab culture.

You are also wrong about Muslim athletes in the Olympics and Olympcs originates in Greek worship of Zeus and their Gods.

You need to do some studies before you try to attack Islam with all your hatred.

Islam is used to hatred and discrimination and invaders and occupiers with WMD's, and Muslims seem to function better under pressure.

"Why? We only want to make peace." (Quran)

Yes, there are many aspects of Islam that are incompatible with a happy and peaceful world.
The main problem is the Islamic intolerance of non-Islamic society. If they leave us alone we will leave them alone.
I don't care if they want to live by their primitive, constricting beliefs, just let me live my life the way I want to!

Architecturally and artistically, it does impress me. Islamic art and architecture is some of the most beautiful in the world.

Really man your questions show how little you know. I am not a muslim... I don't agree with their idealogy and beliefs either, but "How many Islamic muscians do you know? Actors? Movies?" ... I should say I know alot... Just because you don't know any that doesn't mean there aren't any!
