alcohol is a depressant, it depresses more than just the brain, it slows down the entire body including your metabolism

The effects are that it'll make you fat! I am still trying to lose all the weight I gained from drinking! I'm currently doing Weight Watchers and they allow 35 points per week in addition to daily food intake. I use those extra points for BEER, which is only 2 points per 12 ounce can/bottle!

Each gram of alcohol has 7 Calories. Fat has 9 per gram, and protein and carbs have 4.
It means that for every glass of liquor that you drink, you're drinking between 200 and 400 Calories, now to that number add the Calories from the Soda and Voila! you have tons of empty calories, which your body will convert them to FAT, yeah FAT. Besides, alcohol is a diuretic, it means that it makes you pee a lot, and because of it you dehydratate yourself. When your body is dehydratated you metabolism gets lazy and slows itself, meaning that you burn less Calories per hour and the ones you havent burnt will be converted to FAT.
Other important issue regarding to alcohol and diet, is that most diets are restrictive, meaning that you deprivate yourself from foods rich in vitamins such as the Vitamin B group, and your body uses some vitamin B to metabolize alcohol and so, you might be lacking of vitamin B.

My advise: Drinking equals puking, equals smelling messy and nobody will like you, so I wouldnt drink.

You can't drink alcohol and lose weight, mate. Alcohol contains sugar and therefore it's full of empty calories and it will help you to put weight on, not lose it.

Most alcoholic drinks are high in carbohyrdates. It's like drinking sugary soda drinks.
Alcohol is poison, it is bad for your body and your body won't work at it's best to lose weight if you poison it.

yes they are full of carbs..but also empty calories..the basic beer, regular size glass of wine, or normal shot of hard liquor have approximately 125-150 calories...and if you go for the blended drinks, well imagine my surprise that those extra large margaritas I love so much, can have up to 500 calories plus....so if you are trying to lose weight, use alcohol sparingly.

not good on diets....haven't you heard the term "beer belly"??
To diet, eat smaller portions of food, cut the sweets and breads, and don't feel you have to clean everything off your plate...if you feel full.....stop right then!! don't get to the point you feel stuffed..
This has worked for me, have maintained my same body weight for past 4 years doing this. I don't use the "fad" diets because most people won't stay on them long or they go right back to their normal eating soon, thats the reason don't deny yourself foods but rather cut portions way down to match your exercise.
