Keep them separate. Crate the male when you take the female out and crate the female when you take the male out.
As you know, getting him fixed is the only real way out.

Definately seperate them! Don't let them in the same room together. Depending on the size difference, a larger male dog can do alot of damage to a smaller female. Not to mention all those poor unwanted puppies that could result. I would really urge her to get them neutered and spayed as soon as possible but until then make sure they don't come into contact with eachother until the heat is over.

Right now, I have two Boston Terriers, a nine month female in heat and I dont want to breed her til she is at least 2 yrs. old. I also have an adult male, 2 yrs old in the house. I put a diaper on her and then a teddy bear sleeper made for an infant on her. It covers all but her head and feet. I take it off for her to potty and put it back on afterwards. The problem is solved. The male cant breed her and she doesnt mess up the house. of course she is very well mannered or this might not have worked either.

Besides the obvious statement that your mother should take some lessons in responsible pet ownership, you have to keep these two dogs seperated. Although it may already be too late, sadly.
Can you put the male in a different room and keep him there?
And to the person who said "puppies are cute", yes they are, but are you aware how many each DAY are euthanied because there are more dogs than there are homes?

This happend to my friend's dog. He kept his female in the shed with food and water and everything and still let her out but not at the same time he let the male out. Do this until shes out of heat or you'll have more puppies.
Not that thats a bad thing..puppies are cute!

separate them. dogs in heat usually last around 3 weeks. they are most fertile around 10 days. if you have a room in the house to keep her in without any problems, set her up in there. make sure you spend plenty of time with her though. if not, move the male to a different room or put him outside.
i would not recommend putting HER outside, other dogs in the neighborhood can tell when one is in heat and will find a way to get to her.

You need to keep the dog in another room away from the female. Do you have a crate?

Your mother should be more responsible. You need to keep the female out of reach from the male.... you should get them all spayed and neutered

Keep the male outside or in another room. Please you be responsible, doesn't sound like your mom is. You could lose your little dog if she gets bred.
