How has American foreign policy changed due to America's decision to use the Atomic Bomb?

It changed alot because when we used it we realized it could be used on us. Its like a kid finding out what a gun is then realizing everyone else in his school could have one. How did that change the kids life and the way it lives that life. I dont think anyone who invented the atomic bomb thought it would be an american only invention and I kinda glad in a way that it wasnt. The system of checks and ballances keep us alive longer.
