Calories are not measured by weight, but by the grams of fat, protein, and carbohydrates that particular food contains.
Fats have 9 calories, proteins and carbs have 4 calories. If you look on a box for example it will spell out how many grams of each of these it contains.
Of course saturated fat is the worse for you as that is what causes plaque.
But anyway nutruition gets complicated.
Not all fats are bad for you. Not all sugars are the same, eg. fruits, dairy, simple, complex carbohydrates etc
But any way to answer your question.
There are 218.75 calories/ounce or 3,500calories/ lb.

They say it takes 3500 calories to work off a pound when you are dieting.

But generally, calories is a measure of heat and ounce is a measure of weight.

A calorie (or more properly, Kilocalorie) is the amount of energy required to heat one cubic centimeter of water by one degree celcius.

It's a measure of energy, not weight.
