I am a new christian, and I was told I was Prophetic. What exactly does that mean?? I am normally shy about talking to people, but sometimes I can go up to someone I do not know at all and pray for them. It's like I get this tingly feeling inside and the words just come out.

The radical idea of prophecy is the speaking forth of something under the influence of a spirit. (either the Holy Spirit or a false spirit). Prophecy is firstly "forth-speaking", and only occasionally "foretelling"
I think what was meant if someone told you that you are prophetic is that you are sensitive to the Spirit of God speaking through you to another, and addressing them on a level where they realize it is not just you speaking, but God speaking through you. Very often the one speaking may be unaware of this, but the one hearing, if they have ears to hear, can recognize an authority in what is being said that is greater than the one speaking. I recommend you read I Corinthians, chapter 12-14.
Most important thing is, don't get puffed up, but on the other hand don't clam up. People need to hear from the Lord. Get into His Word. Especially the New Testament. Any new truth must be weighed against the unchangeable truth of the Scriptures.
You may appreciate the writings of Christian author Rick Joyner. He's a man with a prophetic anointing on him. There are others - just be careful.

You might want to ask exactly what they mean when they say this because there are couple different ways to understand the word "prophet" or "Prophet" (little p means you have some prophesies, big P means you're called to be THE Prophet like Moses).

All I can say is that the Bible says a testimony of Christ is the spirit of prophesy (little p), maybe they're pointing out how you have a really great testimony.

It's the PC term for Christians to use when they are talking about psychics. That's what you are, psychic. Christians just don't like to use that word because the bible says not to trust psychics, but prophets (like Moses and Ezekiel) are OK. The fact is they are all the same thing. You receive messages from the divine (God) that tell you what you're supposed to do and for whom. Centuries ago you would have been called a witch and burned at the stake.

You are not prophetic you are empathic, that's different. You are able to sense the other person's mood and are able to determine their prayer need at that moment.

It's a gift, don't blow it, don't worship it, use it only according to what God tells you to do in the Scripture. Read the story of the Ten Talents in the New Testament to get a sense of what Jesus thinks about gifts. Also read up on gifts of the Spirit, it will help you in the right direction.

The "gift of prophecy", if that is what you mean, is the God given ability to "smell a lie", or be able to tell the truth from something false. It is easy to abuse this gift. Usually pastors who are the best "preachers" have this gift. Any born again Christian can have it, male or female, pastor or lay person. Usually this person will just about always be right-and everyone will know it. Remember-in the olden days, they always killed the prophets. Prophets irritate people-especially worldly Christians.

Hey there, new sister in Christ!! Congratulations!!! I'll see you in Heaven one day.

Anyway, that 'tingly feeling inside' is probably the Holy Spirit. As for 'Prophetic" I don't quite know.

PS Note that many of us forget: Live by Love. If you don't, you'll completely miss the pint of the Bible and your relationship with God.

Prophets can see the future. I doubt that you see the future but you probably are very in tune to other people feeling.

AWESOME! You are probably not "prophetic," but you might just be cut out for a vocation in the church =). How old are you? If you are old enough, go to seminary if you ACTUALLY think the Holy Spirit is talking through you.

Good luck and God bless.

that is called a personality. You see, the christians actually brain wash people and turn them into zombies. Think about it. They sing as one, they chant as one, they speak as one, they pray as one. It is creapy. Prophetic means that you are independant.
