16 ounces= 1 pound so 8 ounces = 1/2 pound

You need to guess based on the container it comes out of. For example if it's 24 oz take 1/3 of the contents... or 8 oz of weight. The measuring cups you have assume liquid weight. 16 oz of water = 1 pound (lb) If bleu cheese is more or less dense than water, then using the measuring containers will give you an inaccurate weight. Basically, just use 8 oz of bleu cheese.

Your measuring devices are VOLUME measures, if the recipe calls for 1/2 pd. it is referring to a WEIGHT measure. 8 oz. weight, not volume.

16 ounces equals 1 pound; therefore, 8 ounces is half a pound.

measuring devices are liquid ounces , not troy weight, best either guess or find a scale.
