The overhang is usually 1" at the front and exposed sides. It is available in many different profiles, bull-nose being only one of them.

I suppose the overhang depends what use you have for the counter. We have granite both in our kitchen and on my bar upstairs. The kitchen overhang is about 3cm, and the bar is less, about 2cm This is a new home, and we have found these overhangs ideal. Both areas have ground rounded edges (done by hand in the Philippines would you believe!) Our tops are about 2.5cm thick. granite is expensive, so don't waste too much space or money on the overhang. you will enjoy them!
