The riddle actually goes:
What is greater than God
More evil than the devil
The poor have it
The rich need it
And if you eat it - you die
It was actually the first question my professor asked when i started my psychology degree
Only one person got the answer out of 400 and it was the son of one of the students in the class

I had this question in school. and there is another line you missed which is "if you eat it you will die" and the answer is nothing.
