I sneeze big an I am proud of it. Sneezing is not a social taboo, unless you don't shield it. Personally those cute little Kih ones make my nose bleed so I figure I must be putting pressure on something.

According to traditional etiquette, yes it is taboo. But this is one case in which I break with traditional etiquette. A good sneeze is a much healthier way to clear congestion than blowing your nose, and I for one don't enjoy sinus infections.
Of course, you do have the responsiblity to make sure you don't blast anyone else. I usually sneeze into my jacket.

Well most people with manners when they sneeze does not want to be loud. I do not feel that you have to hold it in, but some people will sneeze as loud as they can and that is so rude.

my 10th and 11th grade science teacher did that. she had her appendix taken out when she was in high school. she was afraid that when she sneezed the staples would somehow come out. so she started that little kitten sneeze out of fear. she still does it to this day... out of habit

by the way, kool SLee-Stak. :)
mostly it comes down to that whole phrase of "not being lady-like" or something about "pretty is as pretty does."
but what a sneeze does is 1st raise the intra-abdominal pressure, (and also raises the intra-thoracic pressure, & forces air out from lungs) & then pushes blood pressure from below the diaphragm into the heart (receiving chamber- RA). above the heart the SVC (large vein returning blood to heart from head & arms) returns blood to heart by little pressure but also by Gravity.
holding in a sneeze increases blood pressure in Rt side of heart, including RA. & this can affect blood pressure into the neck & also in the skull, by a transient increase, from the raised blood pressure from the RA by way of SVC. because this is usually a transient increase, pressure in skull & neck will return to normal. & blood returning back to heart will return to normal.
thus because of short increase in pressure & fairly quick return to normal, most experts would consider this to have very little if any effect in health considerations.
one small consideration off to the side is... if there is any infections or bacterial/ viral components from the lungs or bronchial airways, & one held in her sneeze, part of that jump in intra-thoracic pressure can push some of those infections/ or bacteria into the Eustacian tube (internal ear canal that leads from the internal/ mid structures of ear to your throat). then those bacteria or viral components sit in your ears & just stay there. they usually like to block up the drainage part (Eustacian tube) so then nothing can get out or in. then things inside just swell up.
2ndly, by this other consideration, it may be possible to blow out (rupture) one ear drum, by holding in a sneeze. it has to be really strong.
good luck.

Cute, but ,no thats actually not healthy. When you stifle a sneeze, your lungs expand. Let it loose!

No it's not, they just want to seem dainty and they always like someone to notice so if it sounds different then it gets attention.
