Kind of agreeing with "apple"....Mormons really aren't all 'bad' people(not so true for a lot of the leaders)... they're just following what they've grown up on, they're not told the whole truth, they're not explained to thouroughly, so half of the them don't realize what they're doing.

It hit me hard when I started realizing what I was doing....ran away and never going back.

If you say mind control is what makes Mormonism a cult, then all Christian religions are cults. They all say that what you can and can not do to get into Heaven, and if you stray just a little bit from what they say you are damned to hell. Why most people believe LDS as a cult is because of the temples and the "secrets" of them. They just want to know what goes on inside and what exactly happens in all the services. (Being ex-lds I couldn't even tell you.)

My wake up call to Organized Religion was when I realized that there was more truth out there then just the Bible and the Book of Mormon. Also, that most leaders in churches do not practice what they preach. The original followers of God and Jesus did not have to follow hypocrites. So, why should I?

Nothing.

Mormonism is probably the only religion that is not a cult, from my research. The Catholics hide dead newborns in underground walkways. The Babtists dance and flail their arms around, drawing away the spirit. Most religions teach about how other religions are wrong. I have found that only the Mormons teach purely about what they believe to be true: a living Christ, etc. Also they are the only ones I've seen that tell you not to rely wholly on what they say but to go to God for assurance of the truth.

So I would reiterate your question with some alteration: What could possibly make Mormonism a cult?

Depending on what you mean by cult or mind control, all christianity might be considered a cult, but I don't think so. This question is more for a forum than for a yahoo answers question. What do you mean by cult? What makes mormonism more mind controlling than other religions?

mind-control of the people, and they keep you in a child-like state.
