I have a dog of my own and I certainly don't want to have her spayed, but it leaves me no choice. The baby is on way and I don't have time to take care of my dog's hygiency.

How much spaying cost (for NY residents)?

Advices please? Thx.

Yes dogs should defiantely be spayed. They will live longer, healthier lives. Spaying dramaticly reduces almost eliminates mammary cancer, eliminates reproductive cancers, eliminates a very serious often fatal uterine infection, pyometria, stops undesirable hormone driven behaviors. These issues are very common and don't just happen in "old" dogs but in dogs as young as 8-9 months old.

Why don't you "Certainly don't want to have her spayed"? Depending on the type of dog, you could be looking at anywhere from 1-13 puppies!

Beyond the dog going into heat and having to deal with that every 6 months, do you realize that it's better for the dog in the long run and that it eliminates the possibility of Uterine and Ovarian cancer?

Spaying is usually around $120 (If the dog is newly pregnant, you're looking @ an abortion and spaying, which will be a lot more...). If you can't afford that, check with the local animal shelter, most offer low/no cost spaying and neutering.

Gettingher spayed will prevent her from getting breast cancer and it will remove the risk of pyometra, a life threatening uterine infection.
Many dogs who are not spayed end up with mamary cancer in their older years.
It is far kinder to spay her and so much better for her health.
There are low cost and free sapy and neuter programs in most major cities. Contact your local area ASPCA or Humane Society for info on what programs can help you with the vet costs.

If you dont plan on breeding her, than yes. She should be spayed. Female dogs bleed when they go into heat and can be very annoying!

I'm not sure about NY, but I know a regualr spay costs about 150.00 on average.

Well, if you want the dog to breed, then you should leave her be,, but, that means at anytime, anywhere with any dog, she can have babies........Spaying really depends on the shelter or vet, but should be around 50-100$(CA)

Why wouldn't you want to spay. If you love you dog you would because the health benefits alone are great.

The cost depends on the vet you go to. You can try a low cost clinic

Well it is a good idea to get a dog spayed because its healthier for them. But it usually depends on how much your dog weighs to, but its usually around 200 or so...

if you have no plans of ever breeding her, it would be in her best interest to spay her, spaying cuts her risk of cancers, and if $$$ is a problem there are several agencies in different ares that offer low cost spay/neuter services.

I think if you aren't an experienced breeder, then you shouldn't be breeding your dogs. The pet population is so huge that extreme measures need to come into play.
But it's healthier for the dog to be spayed/neutered.
