We just got married this past september. We did it in our back yard. We rented the tent, tables and chairs. Hung white christmas lights all around the outside of the tent. I bought all the table clothes and wedding favors from, www.orientaltrading.com. We hired someone to do a pig roast for us. I did meatballs and baked ziti also. We made all the party trays ourselves. We had beer, soda and an alcohol table. We set up horseshoe pits and bought a moon bounce for all the kids to play on. I put camara's on all of the tables for our guests to take pictures. Needless to say the day turned out ten times better then I ever imagined it would be. Best wishes and good luck you.

In the coming spring or the fall-outdoors in the park. Under a string of Chinese lanterns or just plain tiny clear white lights adding to the majesty of the settling sun covered sky with all it kaleidoscope of colors. Ivy boardered white screen backdrop reflecting Love Story as a background with no sound.Planters with old English cottage flowers encased the makeshift alter with portable water fountains on each side.Cobblestone fixated on plywood for the ground leading off onto lush green grass. White wooden chairs for the guests and just simple wild flowers scattered everywhere for continued flow to surround the wedding area. Simple, beautiful, romantic, cheap and a whole lot of fun and with the money you save take the most romantic honeymoon in Greece.Have fun.Good Luck. God bless.peace.Riz>...

My sister had a church wedding with her adult daughter and son as witnesses. They had a nice reception with dancing, but what I remember best was the cake was devilsfood chocolate with Gingerbread Man and Wife on top. What was missing was the milk! 5 of my sisters drove up north together for the wedding and stayed up almost all night having a hen party. We got lost on the way to the church but they couldn't start without us because we had the mother of the groom with us.

I think you ought to consider a Cruise ship wedding. They handle all the details for you and it is really reasonable. You can have as many or as few guests as you want. Getting married in the caribbean is very romantic.

Just have a small ceremony, followed by a meal at your home for family and close friends.

Congratulations!
I am going through the same situation! We were both married previously and are planning our wedding for this fall.
*We're keeping the guest list smaller...under 110 and printing our own invites.
*NO WEDDING SITE/HALL RENTAL FEES!
We're not doing the "big church wedding" either. We're holding both the ceremony and the reception at my homeplace. (I grew up on a 38+ acre farm) We're building our own "arch/alter" area for the ceremony to be totally outdoors (weather permitting) For the reception, I'm buying party tents (with the windowed sides) off of ebay for cheaper than what it is to rent them (by about $100 less!) We can hold the ceremony in there as well if weather does not cooperate.
*NO SEATING RENTAL FEES!
We are fortunate enough that our church is lending us the tables/chairs. But of course we'll make a donation to the church.
*SAVE TONS ON CATERING!!!
We are having a "Family Favorites Buffet". We've asked close family members from both sides to make 'thier dish' that they are best known for in lieu of a wedding gift. To enhance the charm of the whole family recipe buffet idea, I'm going to print up cute little "table tents" to place in front of each dish provided naming what it is and who provided it. EX: "MaryBelle's Potato Salad" All we're really going to buy is like the rolls and stuff. You can present a "catered" look by going to you local party supply store and buying the chaffers/warming tins...they are very inexpensive.
*CENTERPIECES FOR APPROX $2.00 EACH!
I'm making luminaries for my tables. Using a paper white lunch/craft bag, cut tops of bags in rounded/half-moon shape using peking shears for design. You can cut them down as low as you'd like it to be. Get a large stamper of the last name's initial and using either black or theme-color ink, center and stamp initial on both sides of the bag, place a glass jar candle inside (This keeps flame from coming in contact w/paper and also provides its own weight, no need to add sand) Using organza ribbon in your choice of width and theme color - tie a pretty bow around the base of the bag. I'm going to toss a few ivy leaves and matching rose petals around the base of the bag as well. You can actually use any pastel colored bag for this, but don't use dark color-the light will not illuminate from it. I've done these for others and they're great because they are classy looking when done, very cheap to do, and as far as people walking off w/them or whatever---what can you do with 100 bud vases anyway????
*GOT MY DRESS FOR UNDER $89!
I actually picked my dress from the bridesmaid section and it was only $79 bucks! There are alot of them that look very "bride-like" but are a little more informal w/out the train and so much fluff. Destination style dresses are great to! I'd be glad to send you the link for the site I got mine if you'd like, don't want to be accused of advertising here! LOL
*WHO NEEDS "BOUQUETS"???
UNnecessary expense for a 2nd wedding. I'm getting one red long stem rose and tying an ivory organza ribbon on it/long streamers for me and for my ONE bridesmaid (no need for a huge bridal party)who is wearing cranberry I'm getting an ivory long stem rose and tying a cranberry ribbon on hers. You're looking at MAYBE $7 bucks tops for both. AND its easier to press or dry ONE rose vs. a whole bouquet.
WHEW-----These are just a FEW ideas and things that I am doing myself. We were able to save soooo much, that we were able to arrange having FIREWORKS set off at the reception! I have TONS more suggestions/ideas, I'd be glad to share them w/you, please feel free to email me! ;-)
When you're planning a second marriage, it gives you SO much more freedom to think outside the "Wedding box"! You don't have to do all of the "expected traditions"....you can actually introduce PRACTICALITY to the Wedding World!
