Why does illness seem to strike in the middle of the night?

My daughter, mother, husband, father in law and myself all woke up in the middle of the night and got sick. Why does it seem to strike then without warning?

One thing I am sure is that it is not in genes as people from different sets of genes are involved when you said father in law and husband. Second is all might have had same food (that should be checked) for dinner. Third is there might be some hot discussion in the family before going to bed. And lastly don’t see any particular program on TV that has more of melodrama.
