A Scientologist. Why would you send a religous person to the aliens. We don't know their religion. I'm sure a scientologist would better connect with aliens. First person to pop into my head was Opra, after all, the majority of humanity loves Opra.

I would send a council of people...one to represent each idea:
An atheist - Isaac Asimov
An agnostics - Karl Rove
A Christian - Galileo Galileo
A Muslim - Muhammad Ali
A Buddhist – LA Laker Coach, Phil Jackson
A Hindu - Sir Vidiadhar Surajprasad Naipaul, Writer
Worship Deities – Alexander the Great
To Pagan - Roman Emperor Constantine
A Scientologist – John Travolta
Lastly I would include my mother....no one can argue better than her.

What popped in my head:
Atheist - educated
Agnostic - hippie
Christian - scared
Muslim - ignorant
Buddhist - stupid
Hindu - not capable
Deist - some idiot who likes trendy names
pagan - ****, paganism is too old to believe anymore
scientologist - clinically insane
Basically I think what this says about stereotypes is that although all religionists are equally misled, I have some different perspectives based solely on what I have heard about these religions. Also I assume that atheists are educated when this is not always the case.
I would choose the atheist to attempt the test.

I honestly don't think a person's religion should have too much bearing on deciding who should represent us in a case like that. The only thing is I wouldn't be inclined to pick someone who was a member of a cult, because this would mean they might be someone who is easily influenced, emotionally weak, and not able to sort out fact from fiction.
I think it would depend more on the character and other qualities of the person.

i would pick an alien
to represent us
if he failed,
that one's weakness
would crack their omnipotent claim
and support our
"claim to life"
if he passed,
"we"...
--by association to him
--and demonstrable wisdom (in choice of representation)
...could still
claim our lives
(if the aliens were just)
any one
(be s/he alien or no)
who approaches
people (beings),
who are different from them,
w/a predilection for annihilation
isn't really interested
in their...salvation
whether the different-thinking ones
pass a test
or no

I would pass on my own merits with no help from any of the above. The above are only titles, labels, names and words. Words, labels, names and titles no are help to anyone; we can write them on a slip of paper - destroy them by erasing, crossing out, crumpling up and tossing the offending slip of paper into the garbage can. We can only fight for ourselves. I wouldn't pick anyone to represent me because he or she would be too scared for their own selves.
Yet I had one choice it would be God.

An agnostic. They have the most flexible attitudes...though if we were dealing with a truely "alien" threat, then their test might be nearly non-understandable to us.

I would pick Pauly Shore. He'd scare the crap out of them, and the aliens would leave, terrified of being culturally contaminated.
