Well the particular story you were talking about the girl was over 18, and the parent's behavior totally inappropriate, if not criminal.

And yes, lots of families often let the teachings of many different religions come in between them.

confident, do shop the money and use it to shelter your grandkids and pay for the somewhat some incidentals which will crop up, inclusive of extra electrical energy expenses, and so on. Your daughter has of course thought approximately this and desperate that she does not desire to place an unfair burden on you by potential of leaving the fee of taking good care of the toddlers completely on your shoulders. She is behaving in a responsible and mature trend, which shows she is a gorgeous, worrying female. on the least, you comprehend you presently have some funds to take the toddlers to make certain a action picture or for an afternoon at an amusement centre. And, in case you desire to, you are able to consistently positioned some funds aside for the toddlers to purchase mum and their new step-dad a gaggle of flora to declare 'welcome homestead' while they come back. Matched with some handcrafted 'enjoying cards' (made by potential of the toddlers, of direction), who ought to desire for a extra perfect present? Cheers :-)

Interesting story, huh? They aren't being charged with "trying to keep her from marrying outside the faith." They're being charged with kidnapping. It's a lot more simple when you take the morally righteous motivations (read: rationalizations) out of it, isn't it?

I wouldn't necessarily say it was religion that broke up this family. It was people thinking that religion justified breaking the law and forcing their beliefs on another human being.

Jesus said at Matthew 10:34-37 Do not think I came to put peace upon the earth; I came to put not peace, but a sword. For I came to cause division, with a man against his father, and a daughter against her mother, and a young wife against her mother-in-law. Indeed, a man's enemies will be persons of his own household. He that has greater affection for father or mother than for me is not worthy of me; and he that has greater affection for son or daughter than for me is not worthy of me. Jesus knew not everyone even in the same household would accept the truth. When your children reach legal adult marrying age, they are free to marry whoever they want, you hope though, that you taught them well enough and that they learned what they were taught so that they can make sound judgments that affect them for the rest of their lives, but no parent should force their child to do what they want when they are adults.

Christian teachings do not destroy families, Christian Extremists destroy families.
No where in Christianity does it teach anything but acceptance and tolerance, so if they are unaccepting and intolerant of others, that is not what they were taught.

What family in Utah? If she was over 18 they could go to jail.

Maybe we should go back to chastity belts that parents could lock on their daughters so they won't be naughty before marriage. Then they could give the key to her hubby and he'd been able to unlock her whenever he wanted to.
