The list they get can be up to 30 days old so if you recently added yourself you may get calls. They should have an in house list if they call and you don't want o be on the list they have to put you there so they don't call. If they still call you need to report and have them fined.
I have a call center and am sitting here running it now.

The do not call list does help but once you register it takes some time for the information to get sent to telemarketers.
However there are loop holes on the list. If you have ordered or used their service within the past year they can still call you, which has lead to the some what questionable legal use of the word affiliates and affiliated programs to get around the law. The list also doesn't apply to non-profit organizations and political calls. But then again what would you expect when the politicians passed the law.

Yes, it does work. Our number has been on the list for about 3 years now and ,after the 30 day waiting period, we stopped getting calls from telemarketers.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
If your number has been on the list since it first got started then maybe you should check to see if the registration for your number has expired. Phone numbers only stay on the list for 5 years and then you have to register again.
Here's how you can find out:
When Does My Registration Expire?
15. How long does my phone number stay registered?
Your phone number will remain on the registry for five years from the date you register (unless you choose to take it off the registry or your phone number is disconnected). If you register online, you may want to print the Web page for your records when your registration is accepted.
16. How can I find out when my registration expires?
You can click on the Verify a Registration button any time to check your expiration date. Your registration will expire five years from your registration date. You may want to print the Web page with your registration date for your records.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
If your number's registration hasn't expired and you're still getting calls from this telemarketer then you can file a complaint against them.
Filing a Do Not Call Complaint
37. When can I file a do not call complaint?
If your number has been on the National Do Not Call Registry for at least 31 days and you receive a call from a telemarketer that you believe is covered by the National Do Not Call Registry, you can file a complaint at the registry’s website at http://www.donotcall.gov or by calling the registry’s toll-free number at 1-888-382-1222 (for TTY, call 1-866-290-4236). To file a complaint, you must know either the name or telephone number of the company that called you, and the date the company called you.
38. How do I file a do not call complaint? What do I need to file a complaint?
You can file your complaint on the registry’s website, http://www.donotcall.gov ,using the File a Complaint page. You must know either the name or the phone number of the company that called you. You also must provide the date that the company called you and your registered phone number. You may provide your name and address, but it’s not required for you to submit a complaint. You also may call the registry’s toll-free number at (1-888-382-1222) to file a complaint (for TTY, call 1-866-290-4236).
39. What happens to my complaint?
Do not call complaints will be entered into the FTC’s Consumer Sentinel system, a secure, online database available to more than 1,000 civil and criminal law enforcement agencies. While the FTC does not resolve individual consumer problems, your complaint will help us investigate the company and could lead to law enforcement action.
40. What if I get a telemarketing call, but can’t get the telemarketer’s name or phone number?
For law enforcement officials to take action on your complaint, they need either the telemarketer’s name or phone number, as well as the date of the call. If you want to report a do not call violation, please get that information.
41. Where can I get more information?
If you have questions or complaints regarding the Do Not Call Registry, please contact the FTC by email at dncconsumerinquiry2 @ ftc. gov, or by mail at:
National Do Not Call Registry
Attn: DNC Program Manager
Federal Trade Commission
600 Pennsylvania Avenue, N.W.
Washington, DC 20580
I hope this helps. Good luck!!

The next time you get a call, do the following:
Ask to speak with a Manager.
Tell her that you are on the Do Not Call List and have been for 2 years.
Next ask her how her company will be sending you your $500 check for violating this federal regulation.

For the last 5 years at least, I get calls which state, " this is your last and final offer for lower interest rates on your credit cards." There used to be 5 calls per day, 6 days a week. Now we are down to 2 calls a day, 6 days a week. I tried to be nice to them but none of them care that I am annoyed on a daily basis. I told one lady just last week that they have called me over a thousand times. She thought I was exaggerating but I told her to do the math. She said she would talk to her boss?? I am still getting calls. I called my Congressmans' office two weeks ago to tell him if they cannot do anything about this, then dismantle this department. An employee called me back a week later and told me the National Do Not Call Registry was a state operation? I called my State Senator and and they told me it was a Federal Program. I am at my wits end with this nonsense.

All of the suggestions are correct. Just make sure you are really, really nice, play into it, get all the info and then contact your State Attorney General's office as several have filed charges against telemarketing companies and fines have been levied. Even if you have an existing business relationship, if you request them to not call for solicitation purposes they have to abide by your request.

I had the same problem...I told them I'm on the NO CALL list and then they would call again.
So,I told them plain and simple to take me off the list.
That way they would not just enter the word NO on their little computer and then the computer would re-dial my number again on some other day. Well it seems to have helped.Hope that helps,if not tell them your tracing the call. LOL

NO!! Many telemarketers call anyway.. They can spoof their number, or just call without displaying a 'private' number. (Usually between 5 and 7 PM.) I have had little help from 'do not call' listing!!

Ask the persons name, ask for the company name and phone #, then advise them that you are on the list. If they keep calling report them. By the time you ask for their name and # they usually hang up...
