I know it's round but isn't it flat. I don't understand it. Are we all on an angle that seems to be flat. How does it work. How can the earth be round?

It appears flat because the size of it makes it appear flat, and most places you stand there are obstructions that don't allow you to see where the Earth curves and drops out of sight.

You can see the roundness of the Earth if you look out onto the ocean. it falls off at the horizon because the round shape causes it to bend out of your line of sight.

Say you have a ping pong ball with your name in black ink on it. Blow it up to the size of the Earth. You wouldn't even recognize your name because it would be so huge you could be standing in just a tiny corner of the first letter. That would make it seem pretty flat.

People knew the Earth was round long before it was popularly discussed. Think about it...Atlas is holding a round world.
