For the love of God, no! Olive oil has a very low smoke point, that means it will burn/catch fire at a much lower temperature than other oils. Do Not use olive oil to deep fry anything, you will not be able to get it hot enough and if you try you will probably catch your kitchen on fire. Plain old vegetable oil is very good for deep frying.

Here is a very good primer on cooking fried foods.

It certainly would be! Giada DeLaurentis from the food network has a wonderful Italian fried chicken recipe. It involved (I believe) chicken that is marinated in lemon juice, garlic, olive oil, salt and pepper...it is then coated and shallow fried in olive oil. You could just wing it or log onto the site for exact directions. Good luck!

I just read that it isn't good to fry in olive oil. They said it was ok to saute but not fry. Go figure. They said to use canola or vegetable oil for frying. There was something to the effect about carcinogens being released from the olive oil. I have always cooked with olive oil, but have to admit that I switched to canola for frying (just in case). I don't really fry foods very often anyway, so it's no big deal.

Stay away from olive oil for deep frying. Your best bet for great fried chicken will be (in order of preference) peanut oil or canola oil.

No because the olive oil will burn at a lower tempature and the flavor will change the taste of your chicken. Use something like safflower oil or canola oil to fry your chicken.

Your best bet is to use 100% vegetable oil or peanut oil to fry the chicken. They give you a better crunch and flavor. Believe me I know.....lol!
