I don't know if it is a generalization as much as it is a personal judgement on their part. Instead of focusing on what it is about christianity that allows some people to believe in or practice "strange" things, it's far easier to just dismiss their legitimate beliefs and distance yourself from them. In essence, you judge them so that you can maintain the belief that you aren't like them when in actuality very little may separate the two beliefs.

very general...it's also subject to personal opinion. I personally believe it's defined first in our hearts then it's carried out by the way we live. Those that say that may have unfortunately experienced hypocrisy or may even have a superiority complex. However, I do believe those people who say they are a christian when they are not do so to keep from getting looked down upon or "preached" to.

I do not try to attain other peoples respect, I worship and seek God Almighty only. Many people claim to be smart, but not all are. People claim to be many things, but their actions say otherwise. So it is with this sinful world. Many claim to know Christ ,when in actuality, they are lost. Those of this world are not able to understand the spiritual things of God. They are spiritually blinded to Gods truth. many so called christians, go to church on sunday, put on their holy face and then go home and live a worldly lifestyle. These are not true christians, they will never see the inside of Gods heavenly kingdom. Jesus foretold us of this kind of christian. When they die, they will knock on heavens door, and Jesus will say to them, "Away from me you sinners, I know not where you come from" To which they will reply: "Lord, did we not do good works and cast out demons in your name?" Again Jesus will tell them "I know thee not, away from me evildoers" Many proclaim to be christians, but few are chosen.

genralize: the idea that Christians are smarter people than atheists, usually used by atheists because they are mad at God.

99% of the people here who claim they are a Christian, are lying.
And those who claimed to be a Christian and changed, are also lying. God doesn't make mistakes, and He will not give salvation to anyone who does not make a lifetime committment to Him.

i think your question is a generalisation.
as the muslims say, there are billions of us in the world, how do you know that we all generalise.
I still respect you even though you don't respect us.
