If you take a home pregnancy test too early, you may get a false negative result. A false negative result is when the test says you are not pregnant but you are. This can be misleading and when using home pregnancy tests you must be very careful of avoiding any factors that may cause false results.
There could be various reasons for a false negative test.
Early Detection Attempt
One reason for a false negative pregnancy test could be that you took the test too early. Pregnancy tests vary in their sensitivity which means how soon they can detect the hormone Human Chorionic Gonadotropin (hCG) in your urine. It is possible that although your ovum might be fertilized, meaning you may be pregnant, but your body has not started secreting enough Human Chorionic Gonadotropin (hCG) for the test to measure. Your body needs time for the hormone to rise to a high enough level to be detected in a test.
Erratic Technique
There is a possibility that while using the home pregnancy test strip you either did not dip it well or did not hold it well in your urine stream. This error in technique may give false negative results.
Missed Reaction Time
For accuracy in home pregnancy tests it is essential that you read the test results in the stipulated reaction time. If you let the test sit for too long (after the instructions on the box tell you), the test is invalid. This may cause it to show false negative results.
If the home pregnancy test shows negative results but you still think you could be pregnant, wait a few days and try again. A negative result can mean that you are not pregnant, you took the test too early or you took the test wrong. Also, if you have received different answers on multiple pregnancy tests, it is recommended that you get a blood test done to get an accurate answer.

If the test does not show you are pregnant (negative test), it is still possible that you may actually be pregnant. You should repeat the test in one week if your menstrual period has not started. If the repeat test is negative, probably you are not pregnant, but you should talk to your health professional to determine the reasons why you are not menstruating.
If you have missed a menstrual period and are having lower abdominal pain, call your health professional immediately even if the pregnancy test is negative. You may have an ectopic (or tubal) pregnancy, which occurs when a fertilized egg attaches somewhere other than in the uterus. An ectopic pregnancy could rupture a fallopian tube and lead to serious medical problems.

Sometimes pregnancy tests are not reliable, I have three children and they did not show up for quite a while. The best time to try is early morning, the first wee of the day and if it is still negative and your period hasn't come on, try again in a week, then you will be 2 months late, if your period is still not here then see your doc!! but tender boobs are also a sign of pregnancy and can also be a sign of pmt. Other signs are needing to wee more, and nausea, tireness, but I just "felt" pregnant.

If you run into a third week without your period, do another test. If it still comes out negative, I would see your doctor. Maybe you are under a lot of stress lately, and that will throw you off. He can perscribe something for you in that case.

false negatives on urine pregnacy tests are alot more come than false positive results. Get another test and test in the morning. If it comes back negative again and your still having symptoms, see your Dr. as soon as possible. Your symptoms may have another underlying cause that needs attention right away.

Pregnancy tests are very acurate, but try taking one in the morning when you first urinate. Hormone levels are highest at that point. If it stil comes back negative, see a doctor withing the next few weeks.

It sounds like you could be... get another pregnancy test (sometimes they give false negatives). I recommend you Clear Blue, but whatever you buy, check out the expiration date.
Good luck!

You will need to retest in two weeks with the home kit, or go to a clinic for a blood test, which is more accurate.
If you have been having unprotected sex, the answer is always 'yes' to "could I be pregnant?"

Its mainly pressure. Ive been having natural intervals, consistently 28 days aside in view that I was once approximately eleven years historic.. then 2 months in the past, I was once practically two weeks past due. I went to the physician and she or he stated pressure mainly had a tremendous function in me being past due. So loosen up, and calm down.. in the event you havent had intercourse then you definately dont fairly have so much to fear approximately. But in the event you fairly are involved, pass to the gyno! :)

You can go to the dr to get a blood test. They are more accurate. And if your not then they can find out what is really wrong.
