I replaced hundreds of these in my old career and I didn't find it to be a difficult job if all went well. The cost to replace the hoses with parts and labour was usually around 150-200 bucks. The labour was usually around 1.2-1.5 hours, so go from there. I will say that if you are not comfortable doing mechanical things, brakes are not the learning ground for you to do this. There is always a chance of breaking something in here as these parts are not exactly the strongest. There is also a lot of other expensive components around this area. You have to have a sure hand and be sure things are put together properly so as to avoid a catastrophic failure. You have to route the new ones in and bleed the brakes properly as all these have ABS which makes bleeding a lot more troublesome. I do advise you to take it in to a dealer!

Find a vocational high school in your area, or trade school, that offers automotive technology. Give them a call and see if they can do the job for you. You can probably get it done for the cost of the parts and maybe a small shop fee. The only problem is the may have to have the car longer than a regular garage.

Sounds like the heater control valve, located under hood on firewall where heater hoses connect to heater core. should be two hoses connected to each end with a cable on top that turns it on and off. On GM cars they go bad in about 6 - 10 yrs

parts probably cost about $40.00 on most cars but seeing it's a cadillac it will probably cost more due to the name and if you know what you are doing it's a simple job, probably in the shop they will charge you an hour worth of labor on top of the price of the parts.

brake hoses can be difficult, in my opinion, they are worth the $ to bring the car in.

Replacing the hoses isn't too tough. But don't forget to bleed 'em.
