It seems that the theist strategy is to attempt to discredit any philosophy or bit of knowledge that doesn't mesh with their own personal world view. Why not use that time constructively and build a case and collect real evidence that supports your claims? It's not an either/or thing you're dealing with. If there were a default answer for these things that would be the case, but there isn't... and yours (god) is the worst possible candidate. In the thousands of years that man has used god as the answer for all things how much real evidence or repeatable tests has he provided to support that claim... absolutely NIL.

So why not stop trying to tear down things you don't agree with and start gathering the material needed to support your case? I have a good feeling if any of you were to pursue this challenge to any degree you would soon realize why there are now so many atheists.

I think the fact that the biggest evidence we can find is our own personal experience. Those who have had personal experiences with God cannot deny it. I could tell you and anyone else about my experiences but it wouldnt likely be substansial enough evidence to make someone believe. I think though, that if you or someone else could walk a mile in my shoes, you would understand also. But we cant do that can we? Im sure you know that not all Christians are uneducated closed minded people (at least I hope you know) we are just as capable of learning as anyone else is. But for me and for countless other believers, we have personal experiences that were so profound to us that we cannot give it up. Does that make sense?

Nice try ;)
Trouble is theists by definition posit a spiritual universe beyond the one we observe and collect evidence about. Science also speculates there can be multiple universes and suchlike outside our ability to measure or prove. There is still a mystery to existence and science is only good at the concrete visible universe. Love is an intangible thing also that science would say is just hormones or signals in the brain, yeah but that fails totally to describe it, or we would just give up on love and go, it's just chemical interactions.. nothing to see here
There is a flip side to this, theists can't shove unprovable things down our throats or fight each other to the death over them, God is a bit intangible so there's should always be open debate, when it is closed off then that's when we start killing each other
I don't see how atheism is going to unite the world I live in

It goes both ways, i.e. atheists make all possible attempts to discredit the Bible before actually reading it or better yet, presenting their own beliefs.

I have not once in my lifetime heard a cogent argument for atheism, but I have heard many for theism.

Just think about the reason for this with common sense: atheism is a-theism, or against theism, but it is not really FOR anything.

If you ever want to talk religion, philosophy, science with facts and reasoning instead of opinions and assumptions, my email address is listed.

First of all, I don't "use God as the answer for all things." Secondly, I realize that Atheists are Atheists for a variety of reasons, and I would like you to prove to me that God doesn't exist. I accept personal experience, and the personal experience of others as evidence of a greater being than we ourselves. Is that proof? No. Science demands proof. Faith is part of a different realm. Faith can stand together with reason, and there are people out there who don't dismiss science because of their faith. Why don't you explain to me, why so many Atheists insist on treating people of faith like idiots who all dismiss reason and logic? For many of us, it's not an either/or.

Well, then explain that to Sir Isaac Newton, the theist and scientist. Must atheist always have an answer for everything? Go get a heart and use it sometime.

The only "strategy" I have, that I know of, is to be the best person I can possibly be...
Does that make me a "bad Christian"??

Because their beliefs also tell them that they don't need evidence, and that they must accept whatever they're told through faith...

However, faith as such is totally invalid and as a consequence, all propositions of faith, because they lack rational demonstration, must conflict with reason.

If you actually read anything written by intelligent philosophical theists, instead of just attacking fundamentalist straw men, you might become a theist yourself.

I didn't know they tried to discredit philosophy. I thought their strategy was just to not read it.
