if you can't what else can u use when your short on eggs?

Sorry, you can't use butter as an egg substitute. If for some reason you had left over egg whites, use 1 egg white with 2 teaspoons unsaturated oil to equal one whole egg.

An idea for the future is to keep a few cartons of liquid egg substitute, such as Egg Beaters, in the freezer. When you're low on fresh eggs, thaw the substitute. 1/4 cup egg substitute = 1 fresh egg, generally, but check the carton label.

Ener-G Egg Replacer - follow directions on box.
2 tbsp corn starch = 1 egg
2 tbsp arrowroot flour = 1 egg
2 tbsp potato starch = 1 egg
1 heaping tbsp soy powder + 2 tbsp water = 1 egg

Butter and eggs are two different things completely so you can't replace it with something not equivalent.
