Low Sodium soy sauce
seasme seeds (toasted or plain or black ones)
green onions, finely chopped
cook in chicken or veggie broth instead of water
cook w/ some Pace picante sauce in place of some water, add cumin and chili powder for a Mexican twist
use lemon grass in the cooking water or broth

Saute your rice in a little oil or butter but do not burn it. Use chicken broth for part or all of the water called for in your recipe.
Add salt and pepper or other spices if you like.

You can gently saute some onion, green or red peppers and add your rice after it is cooked and saute for a few minutes to combine the flavors.

Saffron adds a nice flavour to rice. just sprinkle some in the water before you cook the rice. Basil and oregano taste good with rice too.When I cook rice I usually stir it into the sauce I have with it. That's often based on chopped tomatoes and the rice absorbs the flavour of the sauce.

salt, butter, green onions will add flavor and color to it. sauted vegies are always good too. chicken is nice and gives it a great taste.
